Larry Lamb plays Archie

It seemed his own cockiness foiled Archie's plan as, standing in the cellar having lit the fire, he triumphantly threw a vodka bottle against the wall. Peggy, overhearing the glass smash, came walking down to the cellar, expecting to be met by an intruder, and warned that she'd already called the cops. Panicked at hearing Peggy's voice, Archie hurriedly put the fire out and, as she looked around at the damage, quickly told her he saw two hoodlums flee the scene. Noticing the bemusement on Peggy's face, Archie quickly feigned concern for what could have been, as all the women he cared about live in that one building.

Defeated, though having dodged a bullet, Archie headed back to tell Janine what happened but suddenly realised he left Billy's wallet in the barrel store and raced back to The Vic, hoping to get there before Peggy found it. He was too late, and by the time he arrived Peggy was already suspicious and wanted to know why he didn't yell that there was a fire. Archie tried to cover his tracks, but Peggy was not buying any of the scenarios he was throwing at her and she accused him of trying to frame Billy and commit arson. She was disgusted by the sight of him, but Archie wanted her to look him in the eye so he could swear he wasn't the one who started the fire. As he grabbed Peggy by the arms, she suddenly made eye contact and kissed him.

Elsewhere, Ian relented and told Jane that he'd adopt, but she realised he'd be doing it for the wrong reason and decided to leave, even though he told her that if she walked out now, she could never return. Lucas confronted Owen with a knife in his pocket and they agreed that Owen would leave in a week.
