Larry Lamb plays Archie

It seems his own cockiness foils Archie's plan as, standing in the cellar having lit the fire, he triumphantly throws a vodka bottle against the wall. Peggy hears the glass smash and comes walking down to the cellar, expecting to be met by an intruder and warns that she's already called the cops. Panicked at hearing Peggy's voice, Archie hurriedly puts the fire out and, as she looks around at the damage, quickly tells her he saw two hoodlums flee the scene. Noticing the bemusement on Peggy's face, Archie quickly feigns concerns for what could have been, as all the women he cares about live in that one building.

Defeated, though having dodged a bullet, Archie heads back to tell Janine what happened, but suddenly realises he left Billy's wallet in the barrel store and races back to The Vic, hoping to get there before Peggy finds it. He's too late and by the time he arrives, Peggy's already suspicious and wants to know why he didn't yell that there was a fire. Archie tries to cover his track, but Peggy's not buying any of the scenarios he's throwing at her and she accuses him of trying to frame Billy and commit arson. She's disgusted by the sight of him, but Archie wants her to look him in the eye so he can swear he wasn't the one who started the fire. As he grabs Peggy by the arms, she suddenly makes eye contact and kisses him.

Elsewhere, Ian relents and tells Jane that he'll adopt, but she realises he'll be doing it for the wrong reason and decides to leave, though he tells he that if she walk out now, she can never return. Lucas confronts Owen with a knife in his pocket and they agree that Owen will leave in a week.
