Thursday's EastEnders Preview

Laurie Brett plays Jane

Archie's putting his plans to destroy the Mitchells in motion and sets about distracting Billy by offering him a job as his managerial partner for a new bar he wants to open. He then heads to Janine, telling her that the time has come and they need to act now as the Mitchells are in the grips of financial turmoil. The plan is that Janine will do the dirty work and actually light the fire, and Archie hands her Billy's wallet to plant as evidence. Janine readies everything she'll need to start the fire but calls Archie, who arrives at her flat to find she's fast losing her nerve. Irritated though resolute, Archie heads to The Vic to do the deed himself - planting Billy's wallet and striking a match. Archie, however, thought the building was empty, but Peggy is trapped inside...

Elsewhere, the thought of adoption plays in Jane's mind and she can't help but feel a step closer to her dream when adoption papers come in the post. A bit later, Masood comes to visit and, assuming no one's home, he looks for some paper to leave a note but finds the adoption papers instead. Jane comes downstairs and confides in Masood that she fears she will never know the joy of having her own children. Masood encourages her to be open with Ian and his words bolster her courage as she brings up the topic a bit later with Ian. Ian's reaction is anything but understanding, and he completely loses his temper, telling Jane he has no desire to take on any more parental responsibility and that if she so desperately wants to have a child, she should do so with someone else. Overcome, Jane turns to Masood and finds a bit more comfort from him than she should and launches forward for a kiss.
