David was concerned for Leyla's safety after hearing about the accident and insisted that she get to a hospital. At the shop, Doug mocked the accident, and when Nathan arrived later it became obvious that Leyla was feeling uncomfortable. Later, Gennie found Leyla sobbing uncontrollably in the village and listened on as Leyla poured out her heart over the last few weeks with Nathan. When she was later taken to the police station, she summoned up the necessary courage to resign but was left trapped when Nathan threatened her that things between them were far from over and that, unless she adhered to his bidding, he would ensure that he did everything possible to ruin her life.

Meanwhile, Ashley and Laurel were delighted that Sally was feeling more settled in their home and even managed to find a job helping Edna arrange the church flowers.

Elsewhere, Hannah was desperate to raise money for a school trip and later managed to glean information about chickens from Sam. When he continued following her, offering his wisdom to her in front of his friends, she was mortified but could not bring herself to be rude to Sam. Also, Kayleigh and Victoria continued to mock him before walking off without Hannah.
