David is concerned for Leyla's safety after hearing about the accident and insists that she get to a hospital. At the shop, Doug mocks the accident and when Nathan arrives later, it becomes obvious that Leyla is feeling uncomfortable. Later, Gennie finds Leyla sobbing uncontrollably in the village and listens on as Leyla pours out her heart over the last few weeks with Nathan. When she is later taken to the police station, she summons up the necessary courage to resign but is left trapped when Nathan threatens her that things between them are far from over and that, unless she adheres to his bidding, he will ensure that he does everything possible to ruin her life.

Meanwhile, Ashley and Laurel are delighted that Sally is feeling more settled in their home and even manages to find a job helping Edna arrange the church flowers.

Elsewhere, Hannah is desperate to raise money for a school trip and she later manages to glean information about chickens from Sam. When he continues following her, offering his wisdom to her in front of his friends, she is mortified but cannot bring herself to be rude to Sam. Kayleigh and Victoria continue to mock him before walking off without Hannah.
