Jake Hendriks' script gripe

Jake Hendriks

With him only having joined the cast of 'Hollyoaks' in the beginning of this year, Jake Hendriks has already decided to leave the soap - and so also the role of priest Kieron Hobbs - as he has issues with the scripted decisions that his character made.

The central storyline for 26-year-old Jake's character was that of a gay priest, who falls in love with John Paul McQueen. Torn between his love for John Paul and the obligations he has towards his faith, priest Kieron experiences a fair bit of discord but, following a number of significant events, eventually decides to choose JP over religion.

As to his reason for quitting the soap, Jake explained that it made him "uneasy" that Kieron was so quick to give up his faith for a relationship.

He further explained: "I would have liked to focus a little more on the faith and what that meant to Kieron.

"I'd have like to see more of Kieron's background, maybe featuring other priests, to see where he's from.

"My concern was that he seems to change his mind quite a bit, and the more he does, the more you lose respect for his character."
